Moreni is a town in Dambovita district. Located at approximately 100 km from Bucharest (Bucuresti) , the capital of Romania. With over 20.000 citizens, Moreni is the second largest city in Dambovita.
Geographical you can find Moreni in a forest area at approximately 44° latitude north an 25° longitude east .
The neighbors of Moreni are : “I. L Caragiale” at south, “Gura Ocnitei” at vest , “Iedera” at north and “Filipesti de Padure” at est.
We can find Moreni in history for the first time in 1584 as a village named Moarile. From 1661 it will get the current name, Moreni. Following the growth of the population and the expanding of the village borders in 1947 Moreni will get the status of city. In 2003 ,because of the high number of the people living here , the city will get a bigger rank in the administrative organization of towns becoming a municipality known as Municipiul Moreni.
In marched 2007 Moreni fraternized with Torres Novas, a city located in the district of Santarem, Portugal.
